Babies can have different types of skin rashes due to different causes. The most common notion that remains about the rashes on babies is that they are caused due to the diaper but there are other rashes that the babies can suffer from. The skin of the babies is very soft and smooth and is always exposed to different types of creams, elements and materials which are very new for the baby and its skin and this is the reason why babies can come into contact with some kind of elements that can cause rashes on the skin.

It is a very common thing with babies to have rashes but it is equally important to treat the rashes perfectly and get into the details of the factors that cause the rashes. The most common rashes on babies have been described as under.

This rash appears in yellow color which makes the skin flaky and at the same time greasy to touch. This type of skin rash generally occurs on the scalp area of the baby. The yellow flakes are sometimes accompanied by small formations quite similar to pimples. The best thing to do in treating this rash is the application of baby oil or emu oil before twenty to thirty minutes of the baby’s bath. The flakes can also be washed off by the use of emu oil shampoo or any baby shampoo.

The heat that builds up in the body of the bay causes this set of skin rashes. These rashes usually occur in the areas like the neck, the back, the chest, the face and the armpits. These rashes can be treated by the application of baby powder and calamine lotion that help in removing the rashes. Cornstarch can also be used on the rash area that helps in soothing the itchiness that is caused due to the rashes.

Nappy rash

This kind of rash is one of the most common skin rashes in babies that are caused if the nappy is not changed frequently. The ammonia that is released from the dirt in the nappy is the main cause of these rashes that usually occur around the buttocks, the upper thighs and the genital region. The best thing to do in order to avoid such rashes is to change the diapers frequently and also keeping the nappies clean and dry.

This is a skin rash that appears in the form of flaky and dull skin on the cheeks, the legs and the arms trunk of the babies. This type of skin rash is not contagious and can be treated by using a hypoallergenic soap in order to wash the area. A moisturizer can also be used for this purpose along with emu oil which is also considered to be the best and the most effective for eczema.

These skin rashes are also known as hives that are usually red or pink in color and appear is the form of raised portions of the skin. This type of skin rash is very itchy because it is warm and is caused due to the intake of eggs, chocolates, shellfish, and preservatives contained in foods and coloring. These skin rashes are considered to be one of the most common of the various types of skin rashes on babies.
